Saline for CPAP side effects
Nasal stuffiness is a common side effect of CPAP use. Some people also experience a runny nose, while others have a dry nose and can even have nosebleeds. Nasal congestion often subsides after the first few months of CPAP use, though it remains more common in winter months and during allergy season.
Saline nasal spray in each nostril before bedtime may help reduce your nasal problems. A CPAP device that features a heated humidifier, which attaches to the air pressure machine, can also be beneficial. Your doctor may prescribe a nasal steroid spray if your dryness doesn't respond to heated humidity. A mask that leaks can dry out your nose, so it's important that your mask fit properly.
OCEAN Ultra® is a sterile saline spray that contains hyaluronan as a special moisturizing agent. OCEAN Ultra® Gel is the only gel with hyaluronan and glycerin, which work together to form a moisture cushion on the surface of the skin, sealing in moisture for the temporary relief of dryness and chapping.
