MAGONATE® Magnesium SupplementFAQs
Q. What is MAGONATE® used for? A. MAGONATE® is a magnesium supplement that may be used by children and adults for general supplementation and athletic use to help maintain normal dietary levels of magnesium that can be depleted through exercising or everyday tasks.
Q. Why would someone need to supplement magnesium? A. Essential to good health, magnesium is the fourth most abundant mineral in the body. Magnesium may need to be supplemented when a person has a poor diet, is on IV fluids, has malabsorption, has magnesium distribution problems, or is pregnant. Inadequate magnesium levels may occur due to stress, dieting or eating disorders, drug interactions, excessive vomiting, alcohol, perspiration during exercise, chronic diarrhea, or chemotherapy.
Q. Can it help muscle pain? A. Because MAGONATE® is a ready-to-use liquid magnesium it may give faster relief to muscle pain. Athletes may use MAGONATE® to help maintain normal dietary levels of magnesium and to minimize fatigue and muscle cramping.
Q. Will MAGONATE® help my migraines? A. “Recently available evidence suggests that up to 50% of patients during an acute migraine attack have lowered levels of ionized magnesium. Infusion of magnesium results in a rapid and sustained relief of a migraine in such patients.” (Lopez-Ridaura et al., 2004)*
Q. Is MAGONATE® advisable if I have diabetes? A. Magnesium plays an important role in glucose metabolism. Low levels of magnesium are frequently seen in individuals with Type 2 diabetes. Because magnesium plays such an important role in carbohydrate metabolism, it is helpful to maintain healthy levels of magnesium by taking MAGONATE® daily.
