Founder and history

With a Master’s degree in chemistry from St. Louis University, Tom Fleming founded the pharmaceutical company that bears his name in 1960. For more than four decades, Mr. Fleming’s scientific prowess complemented his unique ability to envision and develop new products based on his discussions with physicians. Well known nationally in the medical community, Mr. Fleming remained active in the daily management of the company until his death in 2003. Today second- and third-generation family members at the company carry on the founder’s legacy of innovation and uncompromising standards in pharmaceuticals research and development, manufacturing, and sales.

Mr. Fleming’s scientific rigor, insistence on the highest standards, and special relationship with the healthcare community endure today as pillars of Fleming's heritage. Fleming products are manufactured with pride under exacting quality standards in state-of-the-art laboratory facilities in St. Louis County, Missouri.
